We've just added a couple more bits of interesting information.
This weeks "Find of the Week" has been added. It's an antler bone comb, found in a medieval cess pit from Area A.
And speaking of Area A, there's been a lot of information about the actual Amphitheatre walls that have now been uncovered in that area of the site, added to the Excavation Areas section.

Hi Again;
Regarding that comb, does the concave curve of the teeth come from wear and usage – or do they make them like that?

Dave re your question on the comb 'does the concave curve of the teeth come from wear and usage or do they make them like that?'
The comb is currently embedded in soil so it is a little difficult to see the teeth clearly. The curve of the teeth on each side appears to be symmetrical and therefore perhaps a result of manufacture rather than wear. However published examples have teeth that are all the same length. The comb is to be seen by a conservator shortly and we will know more after that. J Edwards, Chester Archaeology
