Lots to tell!

A days worth of updates have just been uploaded to the site. Including:

A complete overhaul of the non-invasive survey section, due to the addition of lots of results and conclusions! The geophysics is the most detailed (needing it's own results page), but the others are also well worth looking at, like the aerial survey and cartographical survey.

Also added are two new finds images. One is a much more detailed image of the sword handle, the other is an image of a new find - part of a bronze spoon used to apply Roman makeup!

There is information on the new guided tours around the amphitheatre site, where you are taken around the work by one of the actual archaeologists who have been doing the work on the site.

And on top of all that Issue Three of the newsletter has also been released, and is ready to be downloaded!

Phew.

Hi everyone! :)

There are a few things on the geophysical results page that I am unclear on. Is there any chance you could add a key for what the various colours mean (blue means high?), and maybe put references to the numbers featured on the map in the explanatory text?

Hi Dave,

I know what you mean.

The geophysics actually covers aquite a big area, more than we have shown on the site so far.

The problem is that because it's so detailed and informative it would tip off people to the whereabouts of unexcavated areas.

Apparently know as "night hawks" there are more unscrupulous treasure hunters who would take advantage of the detailed info and use it for their own gains.

This is obviously something we would like to avoid.

So all I've posted is the immediate amphitheatre area map, and some other more vague information. We'll add more over time though.
